Roles & Responsibilities.

Develop complete and accurate procedures that ensure safe, efficient, and cost effective production of resins.
Monitor and improve methods and procedures.
Serve as a technical resource for operations, plant engineering, EHS and QA departments.
Ensure compliance with safety policies and operating procedures.
Interact with operators, supervisors, and maintenance on a daily basis. This includes training, coaching and acting on opportunities for improvement.
Facilitate the training of operators, supervisors, and other plant personnel.
Support resin control room operators, fill-in as needed to operate the control system.
Product line responsibility includes batch quality, efficient utilization of reactor system, response to out of specification production (disposition, root cause analysis, corrective action), and waste reduction.
Identify problems and opportunities for improvement; recommend solutions and implement corrective actions to improve safety, quality, and productivity. Actively participate in quality improvement process.
Direct preventative maintenance on reactor systems.
Assist in commissioning and starting of engineering project.
Maintains and documents production and quality issuesCAIR.
Reviews production SPC data to track improvement plan.
Communicates and manages Management of Change procedures for products, raw materials, and processes.
Protects PPG intellectual property from theft.
Desired Candidate Profile
Bachelors degree in chemical engineering or equivalent. There are progressive levels of advancement within the resin process engineer job title. Each level corresponds with an increasing level of demonstrated technical competency and leadership skills. Advancement is measured by the ability to solve increasingly complex technical problems; resin knowledge (various resin technologies); development of operators, supervisors, and engineers; effective teamwork with support functions (maintenance, HR, accounting, etc.). Good communication and people skills are critical success factors. Process control knowledge is preferred. Understand quality tools, for example APQP, FMEA, PPAP, SPC, MSA is a plus for this position. Shift work may be required to support operations and commission of new projects. Overtime may be required to support operations and complete critical activities.
