Job Description:
We are looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Underwriter to evaluate and analyze risk associated with loan applications and insurance policies. The ideal candidate will make data-driven decisions and help maintain a strong risk portfolio.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate loan applications and insurance policies to determine risk levels and eligibility.
- Analyze financial data, credit reports, and other relevant information to make informed underwriting decisions.
- Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to gather necessary documentation and clarify client information.
- Communicate underwriting decisions and rationale to stakeholders, including clients and internal teams.
- Monitor and review existing policies and loans to ensure compliance with company standards and regulations.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices to enhance underwriting processes.
- Provide training and support to junior underwriters and other team members as needed.
- Participate in risk assessment meetings and contribute to the development of underwriting guidelines.
Mandatory Skills:
- Proven expertise in originations and underwriting processes.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in underwriting software and tools.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in decision-making.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance standards in the underwriting field.
- Experience in risk assessment and management.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically under pressure.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional certification in underwriting or risk management is a plus.
- Demonstrated knowledge of financial products and services.
